Pa’s Rocking ChairPa's Chair

Among my first memories is my Grandfather sitting in this chair working crossword puzzles. It had a burlap seat and back with padding and cover fashioned by my Grandmother. It is now in the good hands of our youngest son, John Harrison.

Pa and Momma’s Bedroom Suit

Pa's Bed

Pa's Dresser

An oak set, loosely put together but very strong. It was probaby bought at the turn of the 20th century. My mother had the dresser stripped and refinished. We gave the set to Raymond and Dorothy, our eldest son and daughter-in-law. They did a good job refinishing the bed. It now graces one of their guest rooms.

Mother’s Victrola

Mother's VictrolaMy first memories of this piece are at age five years old. I’m sure the summer of 1935. It set in the room at the head of the stairs in the Tennessee house. John Harrison has it.

Pot Belly Stove from our store

Pot Belly StoveThis is the stove that was in our store in Dyllis. My grandfather had a smaller one in the store that was there when my step-dad bought it in 1945. Later they moved the Masonic hall to a new building with central heat. We bought this stove and replaced the smaller one. It was originally in Charley McKinney’s store in Wheat until the nuclear plant, K-25, was built in that area. Our daughter, Wanda, now has it in her home in Knoxville, Tennessee.
